Each year, our Transportation Department staff carefully review and plan bus routes for the coming school year. Families of children who travel by bus are encouraged to visit https://cbvrce.ca/home/transportation for information about student transportation and review the details below.
Safety Information
- Children should arrive at bus stops five minutes before their bus is scheduled to arrive.
- Families are encouraged to talk to their children about how they can stay safe while waiting for their bus.
- As a reminder, children in Pre-Primary to Grade 2 must have a parent or guardian present at the bus stop location during drop off.
Bus Planner Web
The BusPlanner Web platform allows families to access their child’s bus information, including route number, pickup/drop-off times and locations. Families who sign up will also receive email notification regarding any bussing changes, including delays or cancellations.
- To register, visit https://www.cbvbussing.ca/Login?ReturnUrl=%2FSubscriptions%2FChildTransportInfo
- Once logged in, the bussing information should be displayed.
- If the bussing details are not provided once logged in, email [email protected] for assistance.
Bus Planner Delays App
The Transportation Department shares information about bus delays or cancellations through the Bus Planner Delays app. This will ensure families only receive notifications for their selected bus route(s). The Bus Planner Delays App is free to download on your smartphone. Once installed, you can select which route(s) you would like to receive notifications for. To get started, CLICK HERE to watch an instructional video, or follow the steps below:
- Search for “Bus Planner Delays” in the App Store and download it for free.
- Open the app, select “Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education” from the menu, and click “Next.”
- Follow the prompts to select “My Child’s Bus,” choose your child’s school, and then their specific bus route. (If you do not know your child(ren)’s route, login to the Bus Planner Parent Portal at https://www.cbvbussing.ca/)
- Close the app and restart it to ensure all settings are applied correctly.
Bussing to Multiple Addresses
- Families who require busing to and from more than one address, with a set schedule, are required to complete an Alternate Address Bussing form.
- Please complete this form as soon as possible and someone from the transportation office will be in touch to discuss the details.
Courtesy Bussing
- Courtesy bussing may be available for students who live within the walking distance boundaries of the school and do not qualify for bussing under the Nova Scotia School Transportation Policy, provided there are available seats on school buses.
- Families seeking courtesy bussing are encouraged to apply HERE. Please note, staff will start making decisions on Courtesy bussing in October 2024.
